Privacy statement

Short and plain, because that matches how this site is built: this page tells you exactly what gijsvanwulfen.com does and does not do with your data.

What this site collects

This site measures how it is used. When you open a page, Google Ads records the page you viewed, roughly where in the world you are, which browser and device you use, and how you arrived here. If you click the "Request availability" button, that click is counted as a conversion so Gijs can see how often people reach out.

What it does not collect: there is no contact form, no account and no newsletter. The "Request availability" button is a plain email link. It opens your own email programme and sends your message straight to Gijs, so the message itself never passes through this website.

The measurement is run by Google. Google is the party that receives this data.

The TEDx video

The homepage has a TEDx talk you can watch. It only loads after you click play, it is never loaded automatically. Once you click play, the video is served by YouTube (owned by Google) and YouTube may then set its own cookies, the same as on youtube.com itself. That is between you and YouTube: see Google's privacy policy for what that covers.

Cookies, and how to switch them off

Google Ads places cookies in your browser to recognise a returning visit. Nothing is placed until you say it is fine. The first time you open this site you are asked, and until you answer, measurement stays off.

You can change that answer whenever you like: ask me again. If you would rather not be measured at all, there are two more ways to stop it, and both work immediately:

Nothing on this site stops working if you do any of these.

Where the data goes

To Google, which processes it on servers inside and outside the European Union, under Google's own retention periods. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with any other party. Gijs sees only totals and trends, never who you are.

Your rights

You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be deleted, or object to being measured at all. Email gijs@gijsvanwulfen.com and you will get an answer. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
